Confusion strikes a young man when he breeches from his known territory into a new world of archaic values in search of his own identity. He is a man of instinct trapped in a society where rules and structure constantly counter his judgment.
While trying to satisfy his lust and thirst for life, he faces with what’s left behind by the victims he generates, in a material oneiric journey. Distanced from the environment, only patched against it as a figurine, he is seduced into the comfortable ease of a bi-polar personality, denying all responsibility.
This short film is an illustrated outcry of the issue of exploitation in under-developed countries. Bresil 2014 is a moody investigation of that place in the darkness.
Bio
Originally from Italy, Carlo Ghioni left his homeland for Canada in hopes of furthering his professional aspirations. He has since become a Canadian citizen. He brings to his work considerable life experience: he grew up close to the streets and is intimately familiar with the complex realities of urban living in a multiracial, multiethnic and multicultural society.
Merging his technical and creative backgrounds, Ghioni produces work in both Canada and Europe. His artistic perspective occupies the gap between the familiarity with the cultures of North American as well as Europe. As a new Canadian, he experiences on a daily basis the hope and disappointment shared by people caught between worlds. These life experiences have developed within him a compassionate interest in and understanding of the human condition and this informs both his work and his attitude to life.
