The true story of the filmmaker’s great-uncle Jimmy, a gay chorus dancer on Broadway who checked himself into rehab for addiction and made a surprising new friend. Fresh Start/Old Blood enacts a crucial turning point in Jimmy’s life; his full story is told in the 25 minute film, The Man That Got Away.

 

Bio
Trevor Anderson is a self-taught, independent filmmaker based in Edmonton. His work has screened at many major international film festivals, including Sundance, Berlin, SXSW, Toronto, AFI Fest, Melbourne, Hot Docs, True/False, Slamdance, Outfest, Frameline, and the Los Angeles Film Festival. His films have been broadcast on CBC, Canal+ France, Bravo! and MTV. His newest film The Man That Got Away premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival where it won the DAAD Short Film Prize.

His previous films include The High Level Bridge which was included in the Sundance Institute Art House Project; The Island which won Best Short Film at the Pink Apple Festival in Zürich, Switzerland; and Rock Pockets which won the inaugural Lindalee Tracey Award at Hot Docs in Toronto.

Anderson is also a stage director and playwright and co-founder of the Canadian rock’n’roll band The Wet Secrets.
