JOB POSTING: Employment Counselor- Youth Animation Project
(Part-time Contract Position)

Youth Animation Project: a program for community action through
animation involving participants between the ages of 15-30. For 20
weeks youth work as a team to create animations on issues related to
youth, social action and the environment. The program welcomes all
youth, including immigrant youth, Aboriginal youth, street-involved
youth and others who face barriers to employment.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Employment Counselor is responsible for the delivery of employment services to youth 15-30 years of age.
Responsibilities
To provide group and individual employment information, counseling, referral and other related services.
To clarify employment, training or career goals by exploring the local labour market, education and training opportunities/resources, including apprenticeship opportunities
To assist participants in obtaining the skills necessary to be successful in their self-directed job search
To liaise with our Employment Partner – the Youth Employment Centre
To develop employment opportunities and make direct placements with employers
To assist in the development and maintenance of a job-search information document that will serve as a resource for program participants
Qualifications
Background in employment training, youth services, social services. Understanding and accommodating the employment needs of a diverse group of participants.
Timeframe
Start Date: Early February
The Employment Counselor’s time, 200 hours in total, will be allocated throughout the 4.5 month intake as follows:
Phase 1: Orientation & Community Service Project
February – June 2010
Approx. 1.5 days every 2 weeks – timeline to be discussed
Phase 2: Completion and Job Search
Contract completion June 2010
15 Days (3 Weeks Full-Time)
