Alberta Film & Video Artists Featured at Alberta Scene albertaine PDF Print E-mail
An eclectic selection of recent Alberta film and video will be featured
during the Alberta Scene albertaine celebrations in Ottawa (April 28 –
May 10).

Programmed in conjunction with the Canadian Film Institute, the work of
twenty -four artists will be screened in two separate programmes at the
National Archives Auditorium, a popular venue for alternative film in
Ottawa, May 6 and May 8 at 7 pm. The work covers a wide range of
styles and subject matter, from documentary to pure visual
experimentation.

'within these eyes' celebrates Helen Folkmann's life PDF Print E-mail
'within these eyes' celebrates Helen Folkmann's life and work Edmonton filmmaker Alex Viszmeg was commissioned by amaas to create a short film honouring the late Helen Folkmann. 'within these eyes' is a moving look at Helen's life, her work as a multi-disciplinary artist, and evokes the complexity and energy of her spirit.

The remarkable film, received its premiere screening at the AMAAS Conference on Saturday May 20, 2006.

Alex has been a member of FAVA since it's inception having produced dozens videos and films as well as participating on productions as cameraman and editor. He also worked in the industry as a lab technician processing film and as a projectionist . His artistic interests are in experimental works which engage the audience in a participatory mode of discussion . Currently he is working on a video about t.v. as a mind controlling , cultural wasteland .
